Topics include the study of the properties and reaction of carbonyl compounds, alkenes, aromatic compounds, and free radicals. Applications of organic chemistry, including polymers, natural products, and photochemistry, will be introduced and discussed. The laboratory work will include examples of these reactions and the chemical and instrumental identification of organic compounds.
