ADCO 2020 - Counseling Skills ADCO 2020 - Counseling Skills Hours/Week: Lecture 3 Course Description: This course addresses addiction counseling theory and practice, crisis intervention, orientation, client education, referral, professional and ethical responsibility, treatment planning, case management, reporting and record keeping, as well as culturally appropriate models for counseling. The course focuses on enhancing motivation for change in substance abuse treatment, stages of client change, and counseling skills appropriate for each particular stage. Students also address crisis intervention, grief and loss, and the 12 steps. This course meets the requirement for Minnesota Statute 2005 Chapter 148C and Minnesota Rule 4747.
