EDUC 2120 — | EXPLORING SOCIOCULTURAL
PERSPECTIVES AND DIVERSITY IN EDUCATIONAL CONTEXT (45-0-3) Fundamental knowledge of understanding culture and teaching children from diverse backgrounds. Specifically, this course is designed to examine the nature and function of culture; the development of individual and group cultural identity; definitions and implications of diversity; and the influence of culture on learning, development and pedagogy. Successful completion of 10 hours of field experience is required. This course prepares students for transfer to complete a Bachelor’s of Education degree in Elementary or Middle Grades Education. Students interested in B.S.Ed. transfer should enroll under the General Studies AS major. EDUC courses are accepted for Area F transfer credit as specified in select CGTC articulation agreements for General Studies.
