This certification-related course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to prepare a prescribed fire plan for technical review and approval in accordance with the Interagency Prescribed Fire Planning and Implementation Procedures Reference Guide. Topics include describing planning policies and guidelines; identifying and describing the process involved in preparing a plan; and developing and defending a plan that safely meets management objectives. This prescribed fire course must be taught to National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) standards for Prescribed Fire Plan Preparation, to include course management, course content, prerequisites, and instructor qualifications.
