This course introduces the fundamental principles of structured premise cabling for both copper and fiber optic systems. Core topics include standards and codes for the telecommunications, transmission principles, installation, termination, testing, retrofitting, pathways and spaces, grounding, bonding and protection, fire stopping, and life safety and field coordination. Upon completion, students should be prepared to take the Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) Installer Level 1 and Level 2 certification examinations.
