This course introduces the concept of lean practices as a means of waste reduction (e.g. cost, time, materials), and how it fits in with continuous improvement. Students will understand the importance of setting up and transforming workspaces for success. In addition to various 5S exercises, topics include lean and 5S fundamentals, useful planning & execution tools, 5S zone mapping, implementation strategies, etc. This course is perfect for individuals, as well as departments and teams preparing to implement 5S in the future; and is a great precursor for anyone pursuing a Six Sigma Certification.
