This course introduces the basic principles, limitations, and advantages of ultrasonic nondestructive testing as applied to industrial components and provides the initial elements of ASNT's requirements for UT practitioners. Topics include sound wave modes and sound theory, and display modes are discussed and demonstrated through lab applications. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of ultrasonics, select proper equipment, and set up an instrument for straight beam examinations.
