ESE349 — Diagnosis and Assessment of Mild to Moderate Disabilities

This ESE (Education Special Education) course provides special education teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary for their role in the assessment and diagnosis of students with mild to moderate disabilities. Emphasizing compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) regulations, the course covers various assessment tools, techniques, and data interpretation methods used in multi-disciplinary team reports. Special education teachers will learn how their role contributes to the effective assessment of students for the purpose of identifying student needs, developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and monitoring progress based on assessment conclusions and recommendations. The course aligns with the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Initial Preparation Standards.
