ENG 2103 — Introduction to Poetry and Drama

3 credits · 3 hours

Prerequisite: ~ENG 1003 Freshman English I, with grade “C’ or higher, or with special permission from the Department Head. Introduces students to poetry and drama as two major genres of world literature. Students will read, analyze, and critique poetry reflective of all world cultures; students will also experiment with writing poetry for pleasure. In the second half of the class, students will focus on world drama; they will read and view works that focus on the diversity of human experience. Emphasis will be on appreciation of the works assigned in class, critical reading, interpreting, and writing about poetry and drama.
