VETT112 — Veterinary Nursing II: Surgical
5 CR Given the characteristics of the patient and the surgical procedure to be performed, the Veterinary Technician student will be able to: 1) Assess the patient’s pre-surgical status and tests and report to the veterinarian; 2) Verify the owner’s consent to the procedure and its cost; 3) Identify and apply appropriate surgical site preparation of hair clipping and decontamination; 4) Position the patient appropriately for maximum surgical convenience and safety; 5) Maintain aseptic technique for surgical facility and equipment.
