ENGT216 — Applied Mechanics of Materials

5 credits · 5 hours

5 CR This course explores the effect of forces on engineering structures and the resulting internal stresses and deformations that develop. Students will apply statics and strength of materials concepts to determine size, shape, and material requirements for engineering components. Topics include an introduction to stress and strain, physical characteristics of components (size and shape), mechanical properties of engineering materials (strength, stiffness, etc.), and materials testing and composition.

Prerequisites: ENGT215
