DET139 — Field-Based Experience I
12 CR The student will complete an unpaid or paid internship or job shadow at a maintenance/repair facility in the industry. It is recommended that the student’s experience focus on the subject areas completed the previous three quarters on campus, if practical or possible, thereby making the internship site a real world extension of the classroom. Student work will be monitored by an instructor from BTC who will visit the work site periodically. Students will create and maintain a field-based learning portfolio, documenting their work experience with narratives and photos and providing an in-depth self-reflection. Prerequisite(s): DET 134 and DET 136 , both with a D or higher
