5 CR Survey of the social history, political development, and cultural contributions of Latin America. Topics include ancient indigenous civilizations of Central and South America, Spanish and Portuguese colonization, revolutions for independence, the building of nation-states, ethnic diversity, and present-day patterns of migration and globalization.
