NURS1204 — Leadership and Behavioral Health Theory

This theory course introduces Practical Nursing students to foundational concepts in behavioral health nursing and leadership appropriate to the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) scope of practice. Students will explore common mental health disorders, therapeutic communication techniques, and strategies for supporting patients’ emotional and psychological well-being in a variety of healthcare settings. The course also introduces basic leadership principles related to the LPN role within the interdisciplinary team. Emphasis is placed on developing professionalism, ethical behavior, and communication skills that promote safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care. To progress in the program, the student must maintain a grade of C or better in Practical Nursing program courses.
