ENGL2200 — Introduction to Journalism

This course is an overview of the history and problems of American Journalism, including discussion of responsibility of the news media under the First Amendment. Practice in modern methods of news gathering, writing, and disseminating for both the print and electronic media. An introduction to the world of communications, including newspapers, magazines, broadcast, television, public relations, and other information services. Useful for learning how to process news as well as for developing a critical approach to news reception. Prerequisite(s): Complete ENGL 1010 or ENGL 1010C with a grade of “C” or better
