WELD 1419 - SMAW II (V-Groove Open/BU/Gouge, & Plate 2G-4G) WELD 1419 - SMAW II (V-Groove Open/BU/Gouge, & Plate 2G-4G) , Lecture 1 , Lab 8 Introduces safe setup and operation of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) equipment for open V-Groove welds, join preparation, proper weld quality, and qualification testing. Students will practice welding open V-Groove welds, with backing or back gouging, in the flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions. Also, students will practice SMAW on plate in the 2G to 4G positions. This course requires a lab fee. Prerequisites: WELD 1318 with a grade of “C” or better Corequisites: WELD 1519
