NURS 1264 — RN Leadership and Management 2 Credit Hours

This course facilitates the transition of the student to the role of a profes- sional nurse in diverse health care organizations. Course content includes the leadership and management concepts of communication, team build- ing, delegation, prioritization, and decision making. Legal and ethical concepts of safe nursing practice, patient advocacy, and patient rights are analyzed. The concepts of quality and safety within organizational systems are examined. Emphasis is placed on the role of the nurse in coordinating care and protecting the client and healthcare personnel through evidence-based practice. Prerequisite: Kansas LPN License and Admission to ADN Program
