NURS 1259 — Maternal Child Nursing II 3 Credit Hours
This course provides an integrative, family-centered approach to the care of mothers, newborns, and children. Emphasis is placed on normal and high-risk pregnancies, normal growth and development, family dynamics, common pediatric disorders and the promotion of healthy behaviors in patients. The concepts of patient-centered care, profession- alism, teamwork and collaboration, clinical judgment, patient education, and communication are integrated throughout the course. Clinical expe- riences provide the student an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts and implement safe patient care to mothers, newborns, and children in a variety of settings. Prerequisite: Kansas LPN License and Admission to ADN Program
