MLTC 1502 — MLT Hematology/Coagulation 6 Credit Hours

This course presents the theory behind hematologic principles including the formation of blood cells, identification of normal and abnormal blood cells as they correlate to disease. Also, included is the study of coagula- tion, the clotting and fibrinolytic mechanisms of the blood. Students will learn the theory and skills required to perform medical laboratory testing in Hematology and Coagulation. Hands on laboratory time is required. Prerequisite: LIFE 1408 Anatomy & Physiology with a grade of C or better or (LIFE 1407 Anatomy & Physiology I with a grade of C or better AND LIFE 1409 Anatomy & Physiology II with a grade of C or better) AND LIFE 1412 Principles of Microbiology with a grade of C or better AND (CHEM 1802 Fundamentals of General Chem with a grade of C or Enrollment by consent of instructor.
