MENT 1007 — Trauma Informed Care in BH 3 Credit Hours
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to trauma- informed care (TIC), equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to rec- ognize the impact of trauma and respond with empathy, safety, and empowerment. Participants will explore the prevalence of trauma across populations, its effects on physical and mental health, and how to inte - grate trauma-informed principles into everyday practice. Through inter- active discussions, case studies, and reflective exercises, learners will gain practical strategies for fostering trauma-sensitive environments in healthcare, education, social services, and community settings. The course emphasizes cultural humility, resilience-building, and the importance of self-care for providers. Prerequisite: PSYC 1000 General Psychology with a grade of C or better or PSYC 1006 Abnormal Psychology with a grade of C or better MILITARY
