FVM 2012 — Contemporary Global Cinema
3 Credit hours 60 Contact hours Students will explore some of the major themes and currents in filmmaking from around the globe during the past 40 years including differences between local traditions and transnational industrial and artistic practices, forces of globalization on a culture and its films, and historical and cultural context of the production and reception of individual films. Students will explore the concepts of global cinema, first, second, and third cinema, third-world cinema, and counter cinema.
