HIS 2140 - Civil War Era in American History: GT-HI1 HIS 2140 - Civil War Era in American History: GT-HI1 Explores the causes, course, and consequences of the American Civil War. Students will examine four broad themes: union and disunion; slavery, race, and emancipation; the experience of modern war for individuals and society; and the challenges of Reconstruction. This course focuses on developing, practicing, and strengthening skills historians use while constructing knowledge and studying a diverse set of narratives through perspectives such as gender, class, religion, and ethnicity. This is a statewide Guaranteed Transfer course in the GT-HI1 category. Course is not repeatable for credit.
